WHAT IS SPEED READING, REALLY?
Many people hear of speed reading, and think of it as skimming,
or reading faster with less comprehension. This is not speed reading.
If you are not going to comprehend what you read, then it's useless
to read fast. You can read as fast as you want, but it doesn't mean
anything if you are not going to remember any of it. You are going
to do is read faster, but with better comprehension. You are not
going to skim. You are going to read every word of the material.
Look at it like driving a car -- you get from one place to another
perhaps in half the time, but your tires still pass over the same
distance and you still see everything on the way. The reason you
read as slowly as you do now is because of the way you were taught
to read in grade school. We are going to finally break those old
bad habits, and start reading faster.
